Job Description:
The Social Science and Humanities Librarian will serve as the liaison to select departments and programs based in the College of Arts and Sciences and the history department in the Maxwell School, ensuring that Libraries' collections and services support the academic and research needs of students and faculty in those units. The Social Science and Humanities Librarian provides essential services, including research assistance, information literacy instruction, and collection development, and serves as the Libraries' point of contact for the assigned areas. As a member of the Collections Team within the Department of Research and Scholarship, the Social Science and Humanities Librarian will promote the Libraries' collections in conjunction with campus and world events, seek to fill gaps in the Libraries' collection, and improve the representation of diverse voices in the collection, as outlined in the Libraries' strategic plan.

Responsibilities:
- Provide in-depth subject reference and consultation services in assigned disciplines through in person consultation, phone, and digital modes of communication.
- Develop and provide specialized online and in-person information literacy instruction for undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and staff in assigned disciplines in conjunction with the Libraries' Information Literacy Program.
- Create and maintain subject-related information and instructional materials.
- Participate in the marketing, development, implementation, assessment, and provision of outreach programs for Libraries services.
- Select materials in coordination with Collection Development and Analysis Librarians and perform other relevant discipline-specific collections activities as needed.
- Promote open-access and effective publishing models as relevant to furthering the mission of the University.
- Participate in producing team programming that promotes Libraries collections across all disciplines, including physical or online displays, blog posts, events, or other activities.
- Work with Collection Development and Analysis Librarians to review and analyze collections in all disciplines and formats.
- Collect and review collections-related user feedback and suggestions.
- Provide mentorship and share best practices on collection development with other members of the Department of Research and Scholarship and the Libraries.
- May supervise or share oversight of the Collections Team student employee.
- Serve as liaison librarian to several departments within the College of Arts and Sciences, including the departments of Religion, Philosophy, Women and Gender Studies, and African American Studies; select programs in the department of Languages, Literatures and Linguistics; interdisciplinary degree programs in identity and diaspora studies, including Native American and Indigenous Studies, Latin American Studies, and others; and the History department in the Maxwell School.
- Develop professional relationships with faculty, researchers, staff, and administration in appropriate schools, colleges, and departments to assess and respond to research and teaching needs.
- Interpret and communicate findings obtained from outreach with constituents using well-defined library communication channels.
- Participate in interdisciplinary library teams as assigned and work collaboratively and creatively to implement and enhance programmatic services that benefit the University.
- Engage in activities that contribute to the advancement of the Libraries, the University, and the library profession.
- Serve as the Libraries representative to select national cooperative collection development programs, including Cooperative Africana Materials Project (CAMP), South Asia Materials Project (SAMP), and Latin Americanist Research Resources Project (LARRP).
- Maintain awareness of professional developments, issues, and practices through research and activities that increase one's knowledge and abilities, and that positively impact one's performance and service contributions.
